Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your use of PayrollDetective.com, including its guides, calculators, comparison pages and email list (together, the “Site”). The Site is operated by Stonecreed Holdings LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
By using the Site, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
General information, not professional advice
The Site publishes general information about payroll, payroll taxes, wage and hour rules, workers’ compensation and payroll providers. It is not legal, tax, accounting, financial or insurance advice. Rules change, differ by state and city, and depend on facts we do not know about your situation.
Reading the Site, using a calculator, emailing us or joining our email list does not create an attorney, accountant, tax preparer, adviser or other professional relationship with us. Before you act on anything you read here, confirm it with the agency that issued the rule or with a qualified professional who knows your facts.
The Site covers rules in the United States only. Information about worker rights is general and cannot tell you whether a particular employer paid you correctly. For a question about pay at your own job, start with whoever handles payroll where you work. If that does not settle it, contact your state labor department or the U.S. Department of Labor.
Calculators and estimates
Our calculators produce estimates from the figures you enter and from assumptions built into each tool. They do not replace your payroll system, tax software, Form W-2 or any official figure. A result can be wrong if an input is wrong, if your situation falls outside a tool’s assumptions, or if a rate or rule has changed.
Do not use a result to run payroll, file a return, pay a tax or set anyone’s pay without checking it against the official source. You are responsible for the figures you enter and for how you use the results.
Accuracy and updates
Information on the Site may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Tax rates, wage bases, filing rules, provider prices and product features change often, sometimes without notice. We may change, correct or remove any content at any time. If you find an error, our editorial standards page explains how to report it.
Other companies, outside links and affiliate links
The Site describes and compares payroll providers, PEOs, insurance options and other products sold by other companies. Prices, plans and terms are set by each company and can change at any time, so confirm them with the company before you buy.
Some links on the Site are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy or sign up, we may earn a commission.
Anything you buy or sign up for through another company is between you and that company and is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. We do not control other websites and are not responsible for their content, products, services or practices.
Our email list
If you join our email list, we use your email address as described in our Privacy Policy. You can unsubscribe at any time. Only submit an email address that belongs to you.

The Site’s text, calculators, tables, graphics and design belong to Stonecreed Holdings LLC or are used with permission, and copyright and other laws protect them. Rates, rules and other material published by government agencies remain public, and we claim no ownership of them.

- frame the Site or present its content as your own
- copy our calculators into another website, app or product

Feedback and corrections
If you send us a correction, suggestion or other feedback, we may use it without paying or crediting you. We do not answer questions about individual situations. Please do not send Social Security numbers, pay records, tax forms or other confidential information about you or anyone else.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and all of its content, calculators and tools are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Site will be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, or that any result will be correct for your situation.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Stonecreed Holdings LLC and its members, managers, contractors and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from or related to the Site, including claims based on negligence. This includes tax penalties, interest, back pay, back taxes, lost profits and lost data, even if we were told such damages were possible.
Our total liability for all claims related to the Site, including claims based on negligence, will not exceed $100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for willful or wanton misconduct.
Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Stonecreed Holdings LLC and its members, managers, contractors and agents from any claim, loss or expense, including reasonable attorney’s fees, that arises from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the Site, or a payroll, tax or employment decision you make using the Site’s content or tools.
Governing law and disputes
The laws of the State of Wyoming govern these terms and any dispute related to the Site, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any lawsuit related to the Site must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, and you and we consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
Before filing a claim, you agree to email us a description of it and allow 30 days to resolve it informally. To the extent the law allows, any claim related to the Site must be filed within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. The last updated date on this page shows when they last changed. Updated terms apply from that date forward and do not apply to a dispute that arose earlier. If you keep using the Site after an update, you accept the updated terms.
Access to the Site
We may suspend, restrict or end access to all or part of the Site for anyone at any time, for example to stop abuse. The sections on warranties, liability, indemnity and disputes continue to apply after your use of the Site ends.
General terms
These terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site. If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect, and that part will be enforced to the greatest extent the law allows. If we do not enforce a term, we have not waived it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms, but we may transfer ours, for example if the Site is sold.
